A document from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the federal government that outlines a plan for Health and Human Services (HHS) spending was leaked in April 2025. The Washington Post has confirmed that it is an actual preliminary budget document that outlines possible cuts to the department of Health and Human Services, including $0 in funding for states' DD Networks that are made up of Developmental Disabilities (DD) Councils, University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDS), and Protection and Advocacy Agencies. In Georgia, that threatens the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities, the Center for Leadership in Disability at GSU, the Institute on Human Development and Disability at UGA, and the Georgia Advocacy Office.
Your advocacy is needed to tell federal legislators from Georgia why the DD Network is so important to people with disabilities! More information on how to advocate below.
